Network with over 400 Canadian mental health professionals at the upcoming Thriving in 2010 and Beyond national conference on mental health. The conference brings together consumers, family members, service providers, researchers and policymakers.
Hosted by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), this national conference will be held October 22nd to 24th, 2010 in London, Ontario at the London Convention Centre. Special keynote speakers include: CBC Radio host Shelagh Rogers; Rona Maynard, former editor of Chatelaine Magazine and author of From Wanting to Die to Loving My Life: How I Beat Depression; and Mr. Justice Edward Ormston. The Minding Our Bodies project will have a poster presentation at the event.
At the heart of the conference, Thriving in 2010 and Beyond closely examines the concept of "thriving." What makes someone with a mental illness (a consumer/survivor) become a thriver? And how can those successes be replicated inside and outside the mental healthcare system?
