The Mood Disorders Association of Ontario’s Boost Your Mood program, which began as a healthy eating pilot program in phase 2 of the Minding Our Bodies project, has created a training opportunity for peer leaders. The two-day training sessions will occur this spring in three different locations including Thunder Bay, Hamilton and Ottawa or Kingston.
Boost Your Mood is an eight-week group program, facilitated by an experienced peer leader, with support from a personal trainer and a dietitian. After running Boost Your Mood in Toronto for a second time this fall, MDAO has developed a two-day train-the-trainer session for peer leaders so they can run the Boost Your Mood program in local communities throughout the province.
To be eligible to participate in this free opportunity, participants need to have completed basic peer facilitation training, as well as have the intention to run a Boost Your Mood group at least once within the six-month period following training. Experience in nutrition and physical activity is welcome but not required for participation. Stay tuned for registration details.
