Raise the community profile of your program with free media relations and advocacy support. The Media Network is a program that for the past decade has been serving practitioners and advocates of public health and people working in tobacco control. Through a grant from the Healthy Communities Fund, the group is now expanding into support for healthy eating and active living.
The goals and objectives of this service include:
- Building media relations and media advocacy capacity among public health practitioners, health advocates and others working on issues related to healthy eating and active living
- Keeping those working on healthy eating and active living–related issues aware of current media coverage and trends
- Providing expert media-related consultation to all stakeholders
- Supporting the development, implementation and communication of local public policies related to healthy eating and active living
Basically, the Media Network is a “one-stop shop” for media relations and media advocacy support, offering the following services at no cost to you, the stakeholder:
- Media advocacy and consultation on key issues
- Media monitoring and analyses of trends and issues
- Training in media relations
- Training in media advocacy (in development)
- Social media training (one webinar complete, two in development)
- Help in writing or editing of media materials, with a focus on common key messaging
- Event management and/or support
- Development or promotion of Key Issues Toolkits
- More, as requested and as feasible!
