The Canadian Mental Health Association, Thunder Bay branch is offering an eight-week rotation of various physical activities (yoga, Qi Gong, walking/hiking, bowling, team sports, swimming) and an education series on health and wellness. To improve sustainability and ensure the program meets the needs of their participants, CMHA Thunder Bay will be training consumer leaders who will be actively involved in the program planning and service delivery.
Both the physical activity and education components involve community partners. The physical activities will be done at various community venues through the City of Thunder Bay. The education series is being done in partnership with Diabetes Health and the Thunder Bay District Health Unit. The Health Unit will facilitate a leadership training initiative for selected consumer leaders.
