Robert Thomas and Brian Walmark presented at the Eating Well for Mental Health Training Day 2010 on Sept. 23, 2010 on the topic of the KO garden box programme.

Robert Thomas is the Director of Health.

Brian Walmark is the Director of Research with Keewaytinook Okimkanak, one of six tribal councils serving remote and isolated First Nations communities in Ontario’s far north. KO is a leader in First Nations connectivity, telecommunications and community-based applications such as KO Tele-Medicine and the Keewaytinook Internet High School. KORI has a twin mandate from the Chiefs to promote the development of research capacity of First Nations communities and to seek out academic researchers willing to respect the research priorities of local communities. Mr. Walmark holds a Master’s Degree (History) and is pursuing a Ph.D in Educational Studies at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He has served as Education Advisor for Nishnawbe Aski Nation, and is a Founding Director of The Metis Nation of Ontario Cultural Commission. Over the past twenty years, Mr. Walmark has worked with a number of First Nations and Aboriginal organizations in Northwestern Ontario. His father’s people are first generation Canadians and his mother’s people are members of Lac La Croix First Nation.
