Presentation: Community kitchens at CAMH and AIS

Tara Laing presented at the Eating Well for Mental Health Training Day on September 23, 2010. She outlined two community kitchen models through her work at CAMH and AIS, both in Toronto.

Tara Laing is an occupational therapist working in Early Intervention at CAMH for the past 7 years. She has also worked as a community development worker for a supportive housing organization in Toronto called AIS for the past 6 years. AIS provides permanent, affordable supportive housing to individuals who have experienced homelessness, mental illness &/or addictions. She has been facilitating cooking and food security programs of various kinds at both jobs for over 6 years. Tara also directed a documentary called ‘Beyond Psychosis: Exceeding Expectations from First Episode to Recovery’ that premiered at the Rendezvous with Madness Film Festival.
