Resource Library

The Resource Library is a database of ready-to-use resources to help you plan, implement, evaluate and sustain your program. The library includes links to external resources created by government and non-profit organizations, new resources developed by the Minding Our Bodies team, and resources created by mental health agencies with physical activity programs and/ or healthy eating programs that have joined the online community of practice. The purpose of the library is to share ready-to-use templates, forms, questionnaires and guides to help leaders develop and maintain their own physical activity programs and/or healthy eating programs in community mental health organizations.

Presentation: HIGH FIVE®

Parks and Recreation Ontario

This presentation describes HIGH FIVE, a national quality standard for children’s sport and recreation founded by Parks and Recreation Ontario.  It emphasizes the importance of developing resiliency in childhood through sport and recreation. It also  introduces their five principles important in developing programming for children: A Caring Adult, Friends, Play, Mastery and Participation.

Elizabeth Branton presented (on behalf of Kelly Delaney) at the Eating Well for Mental Health Training Day on September 23, 2010. The presentation outlined the delivery, evaluation and sustainability components of the Healthy Living Program.

An updated version (attached here) was presented by Kelly Delaney at the Mental Health and Physical Activity Roundtable on May 5th, 2011.

Presentation: Getting Your Community Garden Project off the Ground (while staying rooted)

Greenest City, Master Gardeners, CMHA Owen Sound

This presentation was facilitated by Emma Rooney, a Toronto Master Gardener and program manager for Greenest City, as well as a group of Grey County Master Gardeners and staff from the Canadian Mental Health Association, Grey Bruce Branch. It includes an introduction to a variety of garden resources and shares their experiences working in community gardens. The presentation is intended to support program leaders to identify available assets for your project, manage expectations for everyone involved and deal effectively with conflict in garden settings.

Meriel Cromarty presented at the Healthy Eating and Physical Activity for Women’s Mental Health Forum on May 4, 2012. Her presentation discussed food security initiatives at the London Training Centre, including the development of a culinary garden, the London Food Charter, and a Community Food Hub in London.

Meriel Cromarty is a project manager at the London Training Centre. She has been very active in the Local Food movement in London including FoodNet Ontario and Food Charter Steering Committee among others.

Paul Gorczynski and Kelly Arbour-Nicitopoulos

This presentation describes the academic findings of Paul Gorczynski and Kelly Arbour-Nicitopoulos from the University of Toronto.

Paul's work addresses how theory-based projects are working to help professionals and consumers understand barriers to physical activity; by increasing the confidence of consumers, the effects of barriers are decreased.
